Another addendum

I'm quietly starting to foam at the mouth with frustration at this doctor's office.

Nurse #2 or 3 calls back today, regarding conspicuous absence of period in context of fertility treatment and negative pregnancy test.

Now, mind you, all communications take place over the phone with the nurse. This means, we've spoken before, mutiple times, so my case should theoretically be at least vaguely familiar. They call you with your lab results, good or bad, and then they go over the plan with you - a plan that presumably, has been discussed in daily rounds with the entire fertility "team." The "team" should ideally include a doctor. At least that's how this fertility center is funded.

And as a backdrop, let me throw in the fact that at my last appointment Dr Mother-hen asked me not-so politely if I speak English as she handed me the consent for the IUI. And as backdrop to the backdrop, let me add that during my first appointment, we have a lovely discussion about the state of affairs at our institution where we both work as female physicians, and then, the next day, she actually paged me regarding some GI advice for one of her patients. After all that, "You speak English, right?" was kind of a jarring kick.

So, nurse #2 calls back and leaves a hesitant message on my voicemail: "Got your call. No period and negative pregnancy test.... Hmmmm... I wonder if this was a blood test or a home pregnancy test? [IDIOT!! You HAVE MY MEDICAL RECORD IN FRONT OF YOU! Or do you?!] Normally, the doctor would order more tests, which is probably what I would also recommend [did you not talk to the doctor before calling back the patient? Is this customary?!] Was this a blood test? [LOOK IT UP!!!!] Call back tomorrow."
